Real Name: Scott Summers

A mutant, Scott Summers’ eyes act as a conduit to a dimension of pure energy, and whenever he opens his eyes he projects a beam of pure destructive force through them. Although he should have developed a method of controlling his eye beams when his mutant abilities manifested when he reached puberty, he was unable to due to a serious head injury that he had sustained falling out of a plane as a child. Summers is immune to his own eye beams, and even the thin skin of his eyelids can contain the blasts. He can render the beams harmless by filtering them through lenses made of ruby quartz, and he constantly wears either a protective visor or pair of sunglasses equipped with these lenses, which tints everything he sees into shades of yellow. After being flung from a burning plane along with his brother Alex (now the X-Man Havok), Scott believed his parents to be deceased, although his father was later revealed to be Corsair, the leader of the Starjammers. The Summers brothers were split up and Scott was raised in an orphanage, until his burgeoning mutant powers destroyed the building. He was rescued from an angry mob by Professor X and became his first student, and later the field leader of the X-Men. Summers possesses a keen tactical mind, and he has shown great leadership skills.

Summers has short brown hair. He is the current leader of the X-Men and the former leader of X-Factor. He is Emma Frost’s lover and the former husband of Madelyne Pryor and Phoenix (Jean Grey). He is a teacher and the co-headmaster of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.

The Ultimate Universe's Scott Summers is the field leader of the X-Men, and Marvel Girl's current boyfriend. He also once dated Lorna Dane (Polaris), but she has since become a steady item with his brother Alex (Havok).
