Origin

The youngest of three siblings born into the Shi'Ar royal bloodline, Lilandra Neramani was the last in line to rule the empire. When the eldest sibling Al'Svee Neramini (better known as the criminal Deathbird) was exiled from the empire for killing the Shi'Ar's reigning ruler, Lilandra's older brother D'Ken ascended to the throne as supreme Majestros (emperor) of the race. Lilandra herself became the Grand Admiral of the Imperial fleet.

Over time, D'Ken became insane with desire for power, growing obsessed with the M'Krann Crystal. Lilandra stood against him, and a civil war ensued. Thanks to help from the X-Men and the Phoenix Force, Lilandra overthrew D'Ken and became the new Majestrix (empress) of the Shi'Ar. Lilandra also married Charles Xavier (Professor X) and took him as her royal consort.

Lilandra's reign was a prosperous one for the Shi'Ar people, but it nearly came to an end when she was unseated by the returning Deathbird, who had allied with the Badoon and the Brood. Deathbird disbanded her sister's ruling council and killed most of its members, seizing near complete control for herself. Her foul reign was not to last though, as Lilandra eventually retook her position of Majestrix.

The relationship between the Shi'Ar and humanity has grown frosty over the past several years, as the Empire's general perception of the planet Earth has become one of well-armed savages. Things came to a head when the Phoenix Force reappeared on Earth within Jean Grey; fearing for the safety of the rest of the Universe, the Shi'Ar officially annulled Lilandra's marriage to Xavier and declared an official embargo against any contact with the Earth.

Powers

Lilandra possesses no superhuman abilities, beyond the racial traits shared by all members of the Shi'Ar race.

Affiliations

Lilandra is the current Majestix of the Shi'Ar empire. She is the sister of Deathbird and D'Ken Neramani. Lilandra is also the former wife of Professor X, though their marriage has been legally annulled.
