Real Name: Henry "Hank" McCoy.

Born with the mutant ability of superhuman strength, endurance and agility as well as abnormally large hands and feet, Hank McCoy was one of the original X-Men. A brilliant biochemist, McCoy created an elixir while working for the Brand Corporation which he believed would rid him of his mutation. Before he complete his testing however, McCoy was attacked by the Secret Empire, and he opted to ingest his creation to prevent its theft. The formula caused unforseen effects, causing him to further mutate into an ape-like creature covered with shaggy grey fur, which soon turned blue. He was later returned to human form by Dr. Karl Maddicks, but he soon succumbed to a disease that began to erode his intelligence whenever he physically exerted himself. McCoy was returned to his ape form by Infectia. After Stryfe unleashed the Legacy Virus upon the world, McCoy devoted almost all of his time towards finding a cure; he eventually succeeded, but discovered that the antitode required the death of a mutant to catalyze. Colossus injected himself in memory of his late sister Illyana, and he seemingly died; infact, his body was abducted by Ord of Breakworld. McCoy was later nearly killed in battle with Vargas, and in order to save his life, Sage was forced to advance McCoy's mutation into its next phase. McCoy received cat-like features and senses, clumsier clawed hands and an increased ferality in battle. McCoy has expressed renewed interest in ridding himself of his mutation, but he has come to accept that as long as he remains an X-Man, he can never do so.

McCoy has dated both Vera Cantor and Trish Tilby, the latter of who publicly (and falsely) "outed" McCoy as being a homosexual following their break-up. McCoy is covered in blue fur and has yellow eyes. He is based primarily out of Salem Center, New York.

McCoy is a founding member of the X-Men, a reserve member of the Avengers, a former member of the Champions and the Defenders, and a former founding member of X-Factor. He is currently a teacher at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.
