A school founded by Charles "Professor X" Xavier, the Xavier Institute has also served as a training grounds for new and potential members of the X-Men for as long as the team has existed.

The Xavier Institute's current faculty includes-

• Archangel, who teaches Flight Class
• the Beast
• Tom Corsi, who acts as a physical trainer
• Cyclops, the Headmaster.
• Emma Frost, the Headmistress
• Gambit, who teaches a class on employing projectiles
• Annie Ghazikhanian, a staff nurse
• Iceman
• Karma, the staff librarian
• Dani Moonstar
• Nightcrawler, who teaches Drama
• Rogue
• Kitty Pryde
• Wolverine, another physical trainer

Former teachers have included-

• Xorn, who was the advisor to the XavierInstitute's remedial class until he took on the identity of Magneto and attacked the X-Men, turning his class into a new Brotherhood of Mutants
• Miss Downing, a former guidance counselor
• Northstar, who taught Flight Class until being killed by Wolverine and resurrected by the Hand
• Wolfsbane, who acted as a Teachers' Assistant until her relationship with a student was revealed
• Jean Grey, the Xavier Institute's Headmistress up until her death
• Professor X, the Institute's founder and headmaster until he stepped down

The Xavier Institute also boasts a number of student teams, each mentored by one or more teachers. They include-

• Alpha Squadron, consisting of Vic Borkowski, Indra, Loa and Rubbermaid, mentored by Northstar, and later Karma

• The Corsairs, consisting of the Stepford Cuckoos (Celeste, Mindee and Phoebe), Dryad and Quill, mentored by Cyclops

• The Hellions, consisting of Dust, Hellion, Mercury, Rockslide, Tag, Wither and formerly Icarus, mentored by Emma Frost

• The New Mutants, consisting of Elixir, Icarus, Prodigy, Surge, Wallflower, Wind Dancer and formerly Wither, mentored by Dani Moonstar

• The Paragons, consisting of Ben, DJ, Nicky Gleason, Hope, Jessie and Megan, mentored by Wolfsbane, and later Karma

The Special (remedial) class taught by Xorn consisted of Basilisk, Beak, Dummy, Martha Johansson, Ernst, Angel (Angel Salvatore) and Dust.

Near the end of Xavier's tenure with the school, it was beseiged by a group of student radicals calling themself [the Omega Gang]]. They consisted of Glob Herman, Kid Omega, Radian, Redneck and Tattoo.
